The Western Team
- EXPEDITION ORGANISER, Caroline Cuif
Born in Thionville, France in 1970, Caroline grew up in Normandy where she has always been involved in sporting events. Although being a late starter to mountaineering at the age of 25, she has travelled extensively to Nepal, where she now lives 6 months a year, allowing her to develop significant contacts in the field. In 2004, she climbed Cho Oyu and Mt. Everest in 2006 from Tibet.
Today, she is putting her logistical skills and her extensive knowledge of the Himalayan region to gather an outstanding team of professional guides, doctors, sherpas, and cooks to bring you the best mountain team on any expedition.
For this 2011 Everest expedition, she will pay meticulous attention to detail to help each climber fulfilling their dreams in full safety and with maximum enjoyment. She will be climbing with the team to Camp 2, where we have set the Advanced Base Camp to monitor all climbers on the route. Caroline is also happy to welcome all female climbers who would love to achieve their goals on Everest.
Over the years, Caroline has built reliable relationships with the guides, sherpas and local agents with whom she works. Living in Nepal also gives her an unrivaled understanding of the local diversities and the managing of a trekking business in the Himalayas.

Born in Cluses in the heart of the Chamonix valley, French Alps, Yohan is an accomplished skier, adventurer and mountain doctor. As a child he used to climb mountains after school and soon decided to join the mountain rescue team as a doctor. But he got itchy feet and decided to see more of the world. In 2002 he went solo trekking and kayaking in Canada. The next year he spent 3 months providing medical assistance in the Antananarivo emergency ward in Madagascar; after hours giving first aid, he cleared his head riding mountain bikes. One day, he decided to cross the Island solo. In 2004, he travelled 1200km across Mongolia with 2 horses as his companions, following herders. Back in the valley, he got his diploma of parasitological and tropical medicine, became a mountain and expedition doctor working with the Ifremmont Institute, also he got his certificate of sport traumatology and became co-president of the PHYSIOSPORT association which provides medical assistance in Ironman or Adventure raid sporting events.
Today he makes himself indispensable on mountain ski resorts in the Chamonix Valley where he specializes in emergency trauma. Along with the Ifremmont, he helps develops distance medicine updating the innovative opensource system that provides distance medical help to mountain professionals in isolated environments.
In his spare time, Yohan wanders the world travelling through Nepal, Burkina faso, Patagonia, Norway, Senegal or running the 160km of the Mont Blanc Ultra-Trail race. When away from the trails, he loves relaxing with friends, cooking local specialities and traditional delicacies.
Caroline and Yohan met thanks to Manu Cauchy, doctor, author, mountain guide and founder of the Ifremmont Institute. These two enthusiastic passionates teamed up with Caroline to provide the best medical service possible on her 2011 Everest expedition.
