Health Condition

The trek is accessible to all trekker in good shape. Your trek may include 4/5 hours walk per day  and is followed by days in villages to support the Dental Charity Project. You should be in good physical conditions to participate. The Everest itinereary is more strenuous though due to altitude. Nevertheless, we provide enough days of rest to help acclimatization.

Please, consult your physician prior departure to join the Charity trek. You must have all necessary inoculations that a trek in local and rural conditions require. Your doctor should provide a medical certificate that indicate that you are allowed to travel in exotic places where hygene and life condition may not reach the western standards.

You must inform Reach Summit of all and every medical health problem, food intolerance and medication prescription upon booking.

What gear to bring ?

You can purchase most of your gear in local trekking shops in Kathmandu. Waterproof or down jackets, trekking pants, socks, sunglasses, suncream with high SPF - western brands available -, walking sticks, hats and caps, ponchos, daypacks and headtorch can easely be found in Thamel, the Kathmandu touristic area, at very affordable price.

Besides, we recommend that you purchase your trekking shoes in your country and to break them in few weeks before getting on trek to avoid blisters. Shoes with an ankle support and a Gore-Tex lining are highly recommended. You can also bring waterproof trainers or sandals while in villages and for evening time.

We send you a gear list upon signing.

Visa & permits

We arrange all applicable permits for the regions crossed with the Nepal Toursim Board. It is important you send us a copy of the identity page of your passeport upon booking to issue the documents. Bring 2 ID photos and your passeport with you.

Accommodation

The Dentail Charity trek is a lodge/tented accommodation adventure. During your trek, you sleep and eat in comfortable village lodges along the route. Meals and overnights are included in your itinerary (except drinks and personal food).

Rooms are well maintained and cosy. Food is good with plenty of traditional meals (as Dal Bhat and Momos) and we take an extra care on hygiene to advoid stomach bugs. Bring a towel, comfortable shoes for evening time and warm clothing for the night (like a fleece jacket) for the trek.

We may adapt your accommodation along the trail depending on the local availabilities.

Eco-friendly behaviour

REACH SUMMIT feels very concerned about environmental matters. The Himalayas also suffers from the impacts of climate change. Glaciers are rapidly melting, changing the face of the mountain regions.

During the trek, some villages crossed may not be supplied with electricity and running water and those places remain remote and hard to access. Always make sure you bring you litter with you and do not through anything in nature. Some villages have difficulties to properly collect and bring down waste (always by road and mainly on foot). Always be respectful and do not leave things behind that could spoil or damage the environment.

Your guide will collect your rabbish every morning or organise a disposal point were you could leave your garbage. Do not leave any gear in camps and always bring back your belongings.
