The North face of Everest rises over the impressive Rongbuk glacier through the astonishing Tibetan plateau. It is by this route of the mountain that the British expedition of 1920 tried the rise to the Everest summit whereas Nepal was closed to foreigners.
Mont Everest is the highest mountain of the world located in the Himalayas. The Everest summit is on the border between Tibet and Nepal. In Nepalese, Everest is called Sagarmatha and in Tibetan, Chomolungma, Chomolangma or Qomolangma, “goddess-mother of the world”. The expedition covers approximately 10 weeks in order to maximize acclimatization.

Lunches are composed of a hot meal similar to the dinner menu. The breakfast varies with, with the choice of cereals, pudding, toast, eggs, and sometimes crepes. Coffee, Tea, Hot drinks and snacks are at will throughout the day so that you can hydrate yourselves suitably and eat regularly.
3 - Altitude camps
Even if the appetite is reduced with altitude, we endeavour to bring a large variety of tasty food to you. As much as possible, we will reduce the number of freeze-dried meal but try to propose meals of pastes and rice précuits to you. To camp I, and according to climatic conditions during the ascent, to camp II, a tent dedicated to the kitchen is assembled to prepare suitable meals before the next efforts in altitude. You will have free access to tea, hot drinks, soup and salted and sweetened nibbles and, as far as possible, ham or cheese.
Fitness
On EVEREST you will be climbing very steep snow slopes with sections between 30° to 50° and + with 3 major steps to climb up to alt. 8400m. You must be in excellent physical and mental condition to endure the effort and in very good health. You have to be physically prepared and should train everyday to climb in strenous conditions and hight altitude. Walking, climbing in altitude, running, cycling or/and swimming during at least one hour per day is highly recommended one year before departure.
Learn more about the training >
It is also important that you take enough rest before climbing on hight altitude mountains. Nervosity, anxiousness, tiredness or stress are known to increase AMS. You must have all the knowledge of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness), to recognize their symptoms and have the sufficient knowledge of prevention and treatment of AMS.
Further info about AMS >
We will require a medical certificate that allows you to climb in extreme high altitude.
Eco-friendly behaviour
REACH SUMMIT feels very concerned about the impact that climbing activities can have on the mountain ecosytem. To reduce our impact on the fragile environment, we provide extensive range of solar panels for small device (Ipod, camera batteries, MP3 player ...) and laptop altogether.
Litter as well as human waste are collected and come back with this expedition to leave the mountain as clean as possible. We try to lower the influence of human hand on this fragile ecosytem and be respectful with nature.
The sherpa crew will bring back as many Oxygen cylinder as possible to leave the mountain safe and clean. These bottles will be refilled and we ship some of those in Africa to supply our Kilimanjaro team with top-notch oxygen system.
Please keep in mind that you are not allowed to leave garbage in the nature, pollute or damage the beauty of wildlife and forget your rucksack or any gear in camps. We recommend to use small plastic bags for your garbage that will be collected. Always respect the environment, little can make the difference.
Tibet visa and Chinese regulations
We take care of all formalities to get the special visa you will need to enter Tibet. A copy of your passeport will have to be sent at least 2 months in advance so as to start the long process of issuing your visa.
Even if Tibet is fully re-opened to climbers, Chinese climbing rules and regulations are still very uncertain. Neverthless, regulations on visa are getting much easier with the time going, then we expect to get an easy process to get member's visas for their climbing trip.
However, we still recommend our members to arrive in Kathmandu in advance so as to smoothly manage all paperwork to obtain your Tibet visa from the Chinese authorities.
More details about your Tibet visa >
Some fixed costs may also be applied at the last minute by the Chinese authorities regarding climbing sherpas. Although our proposed expedtion price tries to bear those extra costs, be aware that some extra charges may be applied to comply the new climbing rules.
You will be personally informed by email and also via the blog >

Ask your questions >
The charity project to help the children of Nepal
In 1924, when Mallory on his way to Everest was asked why he wanted to climb the mountain, his answer was "because it is there". Everest is still here, waiting for swelling number of climbers each year. But this time if you are asked why you want to climb Everest, you would be proud to answer "because they are there !" - Since the Hillary / Tanzing ascent, Nepali people have welcomed the climbers from all countries with their legendary smile. Today, you can give back this smile and know what a real Everest climb worth : a nice children smile !
The Dental Project in Nepal
The mission is to reduce the level of dental caries in all Nepalese children living in remote communities which will in turn increase their standard of living. This mission is being achieved through education and preventative strategies and by applying the concepts of empowerment and sustainability.
The Charity Project to help Children
The project was born out of a friendship between two individuals from different worlds : one a dentist and passionate mountaineer from New Zealand and the other a dentist from Nepal whose early education was made possible by the work of Sir Edmund Hillary.
Reach Summit will contribute to develop the dental health program in donating to the SmileHigh Association the amount of the membership fee for each climber that would intend to climb Everest. Book for Everest and Reach Summit will donate the equivalent of your annual membership fee to the SmileHigh Dental team. In return you will receive a membership card and a waterproof jacket with the SmileHigh logo that indicate that your climb has contributed to help the children of Nepal.
In addition, we propose to climbers who have planned to arrive early in Nepal to trek to Langtang for about 3 days (if accessible) to encounter the children, visit the schools that require the attention of the SmileHigh dental professionals and to meet in Kathmandu the Nepali dental therapist in training.
We also encourage you to donate through Dr Julian Haszard's website to help him raising founds. The aim is to enable therapists trainings, organise the following of children from three schools and to provide educaton on oral hygiene techniques. Please visit his website >
