Kanchenjunga Ultra-Marathon - General information
Nepal is a landlocked country between China and India. The country contains eight of world's 10 highest peaks, including Mount Everest and Kanchenjunga - the world's tallest and third tallest - on the borders with China and India (Sikkim) respectively.

To reach Taplejung, you fly from Kathmandu to Biratnagar for an overnight and then fly to Taplenjung.
All participants must have a valid Travel Insurance to participate. By signing the entry form, you confirm that you have a insurance prior to departure. Reach Summit® reserves the right to refuse a member that does not have suitable coverage and will not be entitled to any refund no matter your trip has already been paid. No claim will be accepted.
All participants, runners as well as non-runners, must carry a passport valid for at least 6 months from date of departure. Your visa can be obtained upon arrival in Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu. Bring an ID photo, it will be required at the airport to have your visa delivered.
We arrange all necessary Kanchenjunga running permits with the Nepal Authorities. It is important you send us a copy of the identity page of your passeport upon booking to issue the documents. Bring 2 ID photos with you and your passeport.
The weather in Nepal in February / March is hot and dry with temperatures reaching a high of 30 degrees Celsius (90 Fahrenheit). On the open route, the sun is very hot and the trail is quite dusty. While crossing the jungle when running up to the Pathibara mountain summit point, the temperatures are cooler and you run along a muddy trail with frozen swampy puddles.
- TAPLEJUNG REGION INFORMATION
Taplejung is located in North Eastern Nepal; the Tamur River flows through the district. The area is famous for its proximity to Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world. Taplejung has an airstrip with commercial flights to Biratnagar and Kathmandu. A road connects the district headquarters with the Tarai plains. Most of the population are involved in agriculture, and the vegetation zones range from sub-tropical to temperate forests, alpine meadows, and snow, and ice.
Taplejung is one of the most beautiful areas in eastern Nepal, with a spectacular landscape, Himalayan peaks of heights above 7000 meters and a wide range of flora and fauna. Mt. Kanchanjunga (8586 m), the world's third largest peak, lies in this region. Alpine grassland, rocky out crops, dense temperate and subtropical forests, and no river valleys make up the region. Taplejung occupies an area ranging from 670 meters to 8586 meters (Mt. Kanchanjunga) above sea level.
