Vaccine and inoculation when travelling abroad

We suggest you consult your doctor prior to your departure to do the necessary inoculation and allow you to trek or climb.
 
In Africa


Allow yourself several weeks to be sure your vaccine is fully effective before your arrival.

In Tanzania or  Kenya, highly recommended vaccines are :
- Hepatitis A and B
- Tetanus
- Typhoid (DTP)
- Yellow fever

Tanzania and Kenya are Malaria endemic areas, then an anti-paludic treatment is obligatory. Yellow fever vaccine is also mandatory and has to be innoculated several weeks before departure. Strong insect repellent is mandatory and impregnated mosquito net recommended. 
 
AMS has also to be considered, we must receive your medical certificate that allows you to participate in the climbing trip chosen.


In Nepal

There is neither smallpox nor malaria in Nepal (except Jungle areas like Chitwan). You do not need the cholera vaccine. However it is best to check if you have had inoculations against typhoid, tetanus, diphtheria and Gamma Globulin against Hepatitis A.
 
Bring with you your personal medical kit. We recommend to add : aspirin, antiseptic liquid soap to wash you hands as often as possible in order to avoid all gastric infections or stomach bugs.
 

In Tibet
 
Vaccination requirements are mainly :
- Tetanus
- Typhoid (DTP)
 
Please, consult your physician few months before departure to check the lastest recommendations on inoculations. Always carry your own medical kit with adequate medication.
 
Tibetan Plateau is situated in altitude, Acute Altitude Sickness is the main health illness with main symptoms such as headache and nausea.
 
 
In India - Ladakh
 
Trekking in India and especially Ladakh requires you take very good care of your vaccination history.

You should consult your physician at least 5 weeks prior departure for vaccination and other medical requirements for your trip.

- BCG vaccine
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Typhoid
- Polio

In addition please check you have :
- Tetanus-Diphtheria
- Antibiotic and an anti diarrhea drug

Altitude sickness has also to be consider seriously. Please, make a test of effort before your trip.
